Updates on adopted Opet and Oyen by Shahrul family

A picture paints a thousand words. I count it very blessed to meet Mr Shahrul’s family. His children are gifted to love the animals and they had showered so much love and tender care ever since they bring the “merdeka kitties” back with them after the Raya holidays.  Mr Shahrul, though time schedule very tight and attached to an IT department with a leading bank, having to solve and troubleshoot problems, “on call” and bouts of training time table, is always there for the kids and kitties. He would bring the whole gang of his children to the vet and we met there and talked and  discussed about Opet’s diarrhoe.Opet had been having diarrhoe and his stool has traces of blood. This is not a good sign especially for a little kitten. Opet was feeble and not eating too. Vet said that it could be feline parvo and a blood test was made, and fortunately it was negative. Little Opet immune system was low and hence need 2 weeks of antibiotics and other medicine as prescribed by the doctor and had to be on chicken diet. Such is the plight of little strays’ their immune systems not good enough. ( That was the fate of Bobok, Omel and Yunk Yunk too. They had passed on. )

Ever since Oyen and Opet under the care of Shahrul family, the two had to date progressed very well. Uptodate all is well and “saya berdoa semoga Tuhan bagi rahmat dan perlindungan atas jasa baik tuan” May God bless this wonderful family.

Ringo-the unwilling dog to be rehomed!

The story dated 3 years back.

Ringo was found with 4 puppies in a field. He was spotted by some  school children who came to report to me. They brought me to the site and there and behold were four tiny puppies. There was no mama dog at all. Later I was told that mama dog met with a very unkind fate after she fell into the unkind hands of unkind humans. It is too sad too narrate the truth so I will spare that. Ringo had been a good father and protect the tiny ones. Passers by would leave food for him and the young ones. A few of us managed to nab the puppies and got them rehomed. I took two and one went to a doctor who took the pup for his daughter. The pup name is Pearly and I hope I still can find the photo. Another pup was rehomed to one that stays in my neighbourhood and the name is Money. Two other pups were taken away by another family. This leaves Ringo alone. I continued to feed Ringo for many weeks. One day, he spied and followed me and found me! So I had to bring him to a safe place where there is a make shift shelter. Everyday for two years I fed him and rehomed him. 1st place, he did not like, so I had to bring him back. 2nd place, was to an

elderly couple in  a very big bungalow. They loved Ringo so much. Ringo was too proud and stayed under the big mango tree even under rain and shine. He did not want to eat his food and kept Uncle and Aunt Nga so worried. They left the food (chicken rice and good food) but Ringo ate only a little bit only. Aunt Nga called me to take back Ringo as they worried about Ringo’s 2 weeks of  “hunger strike”. I called my co-rescuer, Yen and she sent another rescued dog – Patches. Now Patches is with Uncle and Aunt Nga to this date.Ringo is very happy to be back and so does all the people that stays around there. Ringo has a big big field to run and to patrol. He is the official guard dog there and his company are some stray cats that I go and feed every evening.

Lesson to learn in rescue world: Do not undermine the school children. They saved 5 dogs. Do not be dishearten if the rehoming does not work out well, it was meant for another dog and Ringo is happier in its former place and I get to see him vice versa everyday. Here is the picture of Ringo in his vast place .

Dr Veranoot N.- a Gem

I came to know Dr Veranoot only barely 4 months. That was when she called me for help and advice on her kittens which I helped to foster three and one got adopted. We are both active in some way in “myanimalcare.org” and we got closer during the “fostering period”. I count it “blessed” to meet such a kind and humble sister. Though a lecturer, and teaching in a renown government hospital in the medical field, she chose to have some time spent on feeding the strays where she stays or she come across. She would pick up the sick ones and sent to vet and after her day’s teaching to our young generations who aspires to be medical doctors, she spent the evenings feeding the strays. This is a very commendable work and she is one of the many awesomost people who has a heart for the lesser animals. Many times both of us wish we could do much much more big scale for the animals, but I do admire that what Sis Veranoot doing even though is a drop in the ocean, it is  a big drop for the cats and dogs.! Sis Veranoot will take time to go off for a break back in her country and will come back again before January 2012. Pictures show Sis Veranoot came to visit Duangden and Duangdoa, 2 kittens that she rescued. There are 6 more and hope to get fosterer /adopter. Kuddos to Sis Veranoot – you are a Gem!. God bless you and Heaven Bless you.

May Dr Veranoot’s example make many more ponder if we would take time to pat the animals and lend a hand too. The choice is yours.

Otis adopted on 14/11/2011

At last Otis the “once could not walk dog” was booked and adopted. Today 14th Nov 2011 at 1.10pm he was put into a Ford Uncer and taken off to Kampar. I could not send him off, which I do normally for the animals I rescued. This week had been a bit of “crazy” week for me, shuttling in the highways and the bi-ways catching up all the necessary tasks assigned to me. I left the gate unlocked so that Mr Lum can come in to take Otis himself. I prepared the cage in the morning. I fed Otis at 730am and played with him, talked to him and he seemed to understand and kept very near to me, wagging his tail. He really stayed close to me and sat beside me perhaps knowing it is a very good – Goodbye. I actually was tinged with sadness to part from him. At 1pm, I called Mr Lum and he was there to take Otis. At 120pm they already at Federal highway and I was at Kesas driving to KL. Again my E bag showed and I was with tears. Anyway this always happen when the pets go away. Know what I mean? Last week, I showed the nice picture of Otis to the rescuer, a myamar worker (as in my previous post) and he was very delighted. He kept saying thanks to me. This gentleman also had gone back to Myamar on the 11th Nov 2011.

Today 15th Nov I called the adopter in Kampar, Unlce Ah Tek. He is Mr Lum’ s friend. He said Otis is a very good dog. He is first frightened (still a puppy) and now he is familiar to the new place. Uncle asked me not to worry because he is a dog lover. Otis has a free big space to run in the house compound. Everything with Otis is fine, even though Otis got a big paw, very tall and will be a BIG STRUCTURE DOG. Only this name is difficult to pronounce and he said he will call him Ah Ti @ Ti Ti.. and I said it is perfectly fine. So far for the dogs that go to kampung area, the names are changed, and I can’t get picture even via hand-phone.   But I am not worried because Mr Lum visit Uncle Ah Tek often so I can get still get connected. Have a great and good life Ti Ti.. and thanks to MaMa Mei Fah that sponsored for Otis and Mr Lum who drove all the way from Subang to Kampar. Thanks also to Aunt Prem who went with me to clinic when Otis could not walk.

Of course Otis@Titi will remember the kind myamar man who picked him up, Uncle Ah Fook who bring food for Otis before they passed to me.  I am very touched by the love of so many people just going all the way out to rescue this once tiny helpless creature. Their

love have transformed Otis to a nice, tall, healthy puppy. Look at the pictures and it will make your heart swell. May God Bless those kind hearts and good karma be upon them as my Buddhist friends always wish.

My story of the Lucky Trios (3 furry friends)

Jackie and Harry

Everyday on my way to work, I would toss the packets of food to them. It had been on going for about 4-5 months and my daily mundane task caught the attention of one kind person. She gave me the approval to catch, spay, neuter them, fully sponsored. Of course by then, the Trios had been friendly and approachable too. Soon, after extra effors and time, one by one was brought to clinic to be spayed/neutered and released back to the vicinity. The feeding continues. Now that it had been rainy and flood  season in September/October and most times I would ponder where would the Trios be. They used to hide under the tall lallangs and at one time, one of the brown dog was trapped inside and the continuous yelping and barking caused me to go and search and with the help of one of the guards, we did rescue the dog out. I was concern that this would happen again and I went to see the boss of the vicinity to allow me to build a temporary make shift shelter for the Trios. I had in mind to find a big wooden carton and put there.

The boss not only agree but also went further to get their contractor to build a dog house and within three days, the dog house was built. It was a pleasant surprise for the Trios and me.  And the feeding continues and the Trios are happy, I am happy and last but not least the boss of the nearby factory also happy.

I believe that I just did the best as I could for the animals and God did the rest for me. Thank you God and boss of the factory.

The Beauty of Black Cats

Ting Ting looking at Tam Tam(with tougue sticking out)

Tam Tam My First Experience with a black cat inspired me to write this article.

It is now 2 years that Tam Tam had been with me. This Chinese New Year in February, I brought Tam Tam to see Dr Chan Kah Yein. It was a show of gratitude and to say “thank you” to her because it was Tam Tam that I went in to help further many other stray cats. To date I have helped, feed, re home, about 30 cats or so. My friend, a journalist/lawyer was surprised when she heard I was helping out the cats too. She then requested me to write an article about cats and I thought black cats would be a nice article to write, because at that time I had 6 to 7 black cats and I was amazed of the “gang of black beauties” that came across my path. Tam Tam of course inspired me to write. Ms Shoba Mano was the person that published my article in her very new forum too. Hope you enjoy reading.:)

It is found as below.

Syedina and Tam Tam

Tam tam and little syedina

Syedina the little kitten picked up from restoran Syed is still to be adopted.

Meantime, little Syedina had been lonely in the cage and I decided to put her with Tam Tam and Ting Ting (2 black cats also rescued). Tam Tam is my first black cat that spurred me to do more for the cats instead of just doing for the dogs. I was very “lost” when Tam tam (whom I had been feeding only) came to me after my return from Kampung after the chinese new year. To cut the story short, I remember that someone had told me that a Dr Chan Kah Yein of myanimalcare.org  is passionate on animals and especially on cats. I searched for the leaflet which my neighbour gave me and I called her.. and the rest was history.. Tam Tam is a very special cat..She acts like a “good host and a mother” to all the strays that come by…I have no doubts about her “helping hand” to me… though Tam Tam has got only 3 legs .. the leg had to be amputated because of accident or whatever I do not know because she appeared to me with her leg being injured and the bone came out of her flesh. Today though 3 legged, she hops and runs fast like a normal 4 legged cat:)

Otis,4 month male pup for adoption

Otis, was found with a leg injury. After medical treatment and medication, he is now perfectly well and can hop and skip and proven good guard dog. Otis would need an understanding owner full of patience (as Otis is still a  puppy). His funny stunts would melt your heart. Otis, initially was rescued by a foreigner, a Myamarmese  working here. He spotted Otis for a few days and decided to do something about it. He carried Otis back and fed him and that was all he could give to Otis. Through connection, I was asked to help to take over and I went to view Otis.  Otis could not walk and he had to crawl on his two hind legs. I salute to this myarmrmese who had such love for our animals here.  I could not say NO to this kind man and found that even other foreigners were giving food to this little puppy for about a week until they called me. Otis was “crying and yelping”. The next day, I brought a cage and off we went to the vet. Everyone in the vet loved him and named him Otis..(sometimes we really ran out of names for all the rescued, and we are glad if someone offer to help to name) Truly Otis live up to his name.. now he is “going up and down” the garden as he likes.

Please sms to Julie : 019 3885119 if interested and state Otis. I shall call you back.

Some of those furry friends that I am feeding…(Part 2)

These are some pictures of the furry friends that I am feeding daily. They are very alert and as they spot me from afar, they would all ready to get their “breakfast” or “dinner” and carry the packet in their mouth. I am glad that they are always there, sometimes a few did not turn up and I would wander where were they but a relief when I spot them again the next day or so. However I am just doing the best and the rest is leaving it to God and the good hands of other kind souls of society/universe.There are those that are in a pack and it is not wise to go near them. As in a pack, there is an Alfa and it is danger to go near them. It would be safer to “toss” the packets out of the car windows. As I said earlier in my post, at least the feeding sustain them, then come to the 2nd part, if they are friendly, then catch them and spay/neuter.  Out of the group, 3 dogs already been brought to vet for neuter and spay. Thanks to Catherine Yin for sponsor.
